We are very grateful for the help and generosity ofDakineOzone,HQ, Slingshot andDynafit. They helped us give out some incredible prizes and recognize speedy snowkiters from all over the world with some great, useful and stylie gear.
And of course we would like to thank all of YOU snowkiters who,
wherever you ride, put a GPS in your pocket, found your digital cameras,
wrestled with the software and submitted your speeds. It is great for us to see

One of these runs hit a peak of 73.5mph and several were over 70. It is an understatement to say this was a great day out.

That is what April 29th looks like in Utah this year. Tom Reynolds won the last week and had a huge run late in the season on what looks like mid-season conditions. Our riders in Vermont were kitesurfing on the same date.
It is very rare that a run of 60.2mph would get you second for the week. At least Charles Meding was the prize winner for this great speed at Lake Sunapee.
Seth Merriam's photo from his personal best speed - nearing 50 on the snowboard every day.
The GPS data screeen from Gary's day of multiple runs over 60mph. He said he lost a ski on one when going around 58mph. He said it was not pretty but he is fine.
Gary's tracks - lots of speed runs and a long upwind beat followed by what must have been one fun downwinder.
This is where Trond Myklebust gets to snowkite in Norway. He went 48.5mph on skis to win a speed ranking prize.
Daniel Koenig, winner of week 4 with a speed of 54mph. He was on skis and a Switchblade 4m on a very breezy day. The crew riding with him in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada agree that the wind was gusting into the 40+ mph range. And he is 16, our youngest speed contest entrant and certainly youngest weekly winner.
So Paul Morse is clearly not going for a speed record here but we liked the photo. It was taken by Seth Merriam and just looks like Paul is off...
We loved this photo of Tom Reynolds getting in some end of 2008 speed runs on Desperation Flats near Park City, Utah (we like the name of the site too). He is sporting some Dakine gloves he won from a week-topping speed run last year.
Seth Merriam was our first East Coast speedster on his snowboard in Maine. Here he is at twilight after a good early season run.
This is from one of our regular speedy snowkitersm Brian Beveridge... I am not sure how or if your families have been affected by cancer but personally both my parents are living with cancer and I lost a good friend this past year to brain cancer who got me started and addicted to my favorite sport Kiteboarding.Anyhow there is a group called Kiteboarding for Cancer that started recently in the US and the first Canadian event is being run this Feb in Regina. It is also the first KB4C Snowkiting event which is exciting. I am participating as an athlete and am contacting my friends, relatives, and business contacts to see if they are interested in sponsoring. Our first winter Kiteboarding 4 Cancer (KB4C) event is taking place on the cool, windy plains of Saskatchewan this February 14-15. I will be going to Regina and participating as an athlete. My own participation is dedicated to my parents who are both currently living with cancer and to numerous other relatives and friends affected by cancer. Visit www.kb4c.ca for more event information.Cheers Brian Beveridge
